Meet The Doctors

Your veterinarian is your best source of information. Diagnosis and treatment of specific conditions should always be in consultation with one’s own veterinarian.

Robert A. Wickes, D.V.M.Robert A. Wickes, D.V.M.

Dr. Wickes (a.k.a. Brutus Buckeye) is a 1972 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has been the owner of Macedonia Veterinary Clinic, Inc. and The Dahl House Boarding Kennels, Inc. since 1975. A lifetime resident of the Cleveland area, Dr. Bob is now enjoying much of his semi-retirement pursuing his love of sport-fishing and working with his German Wirehaired Pointers. This follows his many years of successfully showing and breeding top winning Rottweilers. Long walks in the woods following his pointers are now preferable to the competition of the show ring.

Although no longer keeping full-time hours at the practice, Dr. Bob is still involved in the daily management and is often on site. Appointments and consultations are occasionally available. Even though your appointment may be scheduled with one of the other doctors, be assured that you will receive the same level of care that has been the benchmark of Dr. Wickes’ veterinary practice and boarding facility affording them the reputation he is so proud of.

Ron Swartz, D.V.M.

Ron Swartz, D.V.M.

Another Buckeye, Dr. Swartz is a classmate of Dr. Wickes, also graduating from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Born and raised in Massillon he graduated from Kent State in 1968 and is the previous owner of a companion animal practice located in Chardon. Dr. Ron continues to enjoy practicing and we feel privileged that he brings his years of experience to us as a member of our staff. His special interest in orthopedic and general surgery is very much appreciated.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Ron enjoys the outdoors, especially golf, gardening, bicycling and boating. Long winters are spent restoring a classic boat. Ron and his wife share their home with two happy Golden Retrievers.
